SPOOKY ACTION THEATER / 2026

Backed by Sarah Beth Hall’s shapeshifting scenic design, Emmanuel Garcia-Castro’s concert-style lighting design, navi’s sound stylings, and Rukiya Henry-Fields’ on-point costuming, Harris’s unconventionally thoughtful and in some ways boundless script develops an ineffable larger-than-life quality in Spooky Action’s rather intimate black box.

ANNE VALENTINO / MARYLAND THEATRE GUIDE

Spooky Action’s intimate space gives you no choice but to confront the piece head-on, and King takes advantage of this, especially in the third section, where the playing space quite literally comes out into the front row. I should take this opportunity to compliment Sarah Beth Hall’s scenic design, which deserves as much praise for its flexibility as it does for its great aesthetics.
